Can someone explain to me why there is merit to doing inference locally?

I hope this next year will be better than the last one, with more family, more friends, and more hope. If nothing else, my adventure gave me perspective. I wish this could have happened another way, but such is life.

Throughout this journey, my family, video games, and my work have proven to be the foundations on which I could rely to clear my troubled mind.

A year from that very morning, I feel strong. I am still very much afraid, probably as much as I was the very first day I realized my fear. But fear doesn't scare me anymore. It's manageable and occasionally vanishes.

It took six months, therapy, medication, self-searching, and a lot of mental tricks, as well as listening to role models, to find some semblance of hope. Eventually, I started feeling better. I began to see in the mirrors parts of myself I considered long lost.

At some point, the acute phase was over. Anxiety settled and became fear. I cope better with fear than with anxiety. I found my protective mechanisms and started getting out of the house, socializing, doing some writing, and even some programming.

I was amidst an important career change, trying to make something out of my work. That plan shattered into a million pieces, and my only hope, for weeks on end, was to be able to get up from the bed without feeling anxious.

I never thought I'd be able to find myself after that first day. Everything felt pointless, destroyed, and distant. I remember rushing into the hospital, having accepted fate and that my life would never be the same again.

🧵Exactly a year ago, I had my first panic attack followed by weeks of anxiety attacks. Eventually, a month later, I was diagnosed with GAD triggered, among others, by an accident I had while I was out with friends. It took over 4 months to be able to function again.
