People in today's society are naive enough not to object when their privacy is violated. They'll actually speak out in defence of large corporations and corrupt governments that act improperly under the belief of good faith.

How to receive practical advice:
Person 1: "Can you help me learn about cybersecurity?"
Person 2: "Can you help me learn about web-application hacking?"
Be like person 2.
Otherwise, you'll get a vague answer that won't be of much use to you.

If you know how to build the thing you're trying to hack, you're a better hacker. Install software, configure it, and break it from the inside out. Then, when attacking from the outside, use that knowledge. Eventually, you'll notice obvious flaws.
